Can’t Run Windows Updates – Stop/Start Windows Update Service

  1. Click the Start menu.
  2. Type and click ‘Run’ or in the search bar type: services.msc
  3. Press Enter.
  4. This will open the services window.
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the list until you find Windows update.
  6. Right click this and select ‘Stop’.
  7. Wait a few moments and when available right click once more and select ‘Start’.

This may require you to do a couple times or you may have to reboot the PC in rare cases but for the most part this should start the windows updates.
